As members the travel industry, we’re doing our best to consider how to help everyone cope with their emotional well-beings during the coronavirus pandemic. We know that people miss travelling. And we certainly miss helping our members experience the greatest vacations of their lives.
The day will come when taking trips will be the norm again. So let’s think about that for a little bit, shall we? Where do you want to visit once the pandemic is behind us? We have a few great ideas!
Considering recent reports that New Zealand has practically eliminated COVID-19 after weeks of lockdown, it is likely to be a top destination for travellers once the crisis is over. The southwestern Pacific Ocean nation has two main land masses – the North Island and the South Island – but it also incorporates 600 smaller islands. Highly regarded for its stunning beauty, New Zealand is also popular for being the filming location for The Lord of the Rings film series.
“Start your visit off in the capital city of Auckland, with its culture, history, and museums,” recommends Freddy Sherman on PlanetWare.com, “Spend some time on the water and at the beach-Waitemata Harbour has beaches, along with a range of sailing and boating activities. Visit the Rotorua area to learn about and experience indigenous Maori culture and head to Queenstown to experience the country’s wide range of outdoor extreme action sports.”
Bora Bora is often called a paradise! You’d be hard pressed to locate a more wondrous spot on Earth to visit post-pandemic. The little South Pacific island is just northwest of Tahiti in French Polynesia. Bora Bora is a very popular luxury resort destination. You can stay in a guest bungalow perched over the water on stilts, go scuba diving and bask in the glorious warmth and sunshine.
“This magical island has some of the most beautiful sights to behold – a tropical island surrounded by the amazing blue lagoon and coral reefs, accompanied by small islets (Motus),” describes Holidify.com, “Bora Bora has a lot more to offer apart from its indulging over-water and beach-side resorts…There are a couple of underwater activities that also allow you to interact with the enigmatic marine life.”
Located in East Africa aside the Indian Ocean, Kenya boasts mountain highlands, lakelands and the dramatic Great Rift Valley. The animal lover in you will love Kenya as it is famously home to such wildlife as lions, elephants and rhinos. You can enjoy safaris which begin in the capital of Nairobi and travel to the Maasai Mara Reserve which is known for its annual wildebeest migrations.
“Kenya’s Maasai Mara is an incredible bio-diverse area and a popular safari destination,” reports Sherman, “It’s an opportunity to see the ‘big five’ animals (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo) all during one trip or, if you’re lucky, during one afternoon. The protected Maasai Mara National Reserve park area is huge, over 1,500 square kilometres of mainly grassland, extending all the way to the Serengeti plain of Tanzania.”
