Are you an animal lover?

Banff, Alberta offers you over 1,600 kilometres of hiking trails. Along those trails, you’ll find a seemingly endless array of exotic wildlife. Included in the parade of wild animals that call Banff home are moose, sheep, deer, porcupines, bears, goats, beavers, chipmunks and wolves. You may also come across endangered caribou herds.

“Banff National Park is brimming with exotic wildlife,” reports Eric of EnjoyBanff.com, “So you have a very good chance of spotting such fascinating creatures in their natural habitat as elk, moose, coyote, wolf, bighorn sheep, and even grizzly bears and black bears. Elk and sheep you may very well see right in town or on the side of the road and you can go out on bear tours that take you up close to the beings.”

There are numerous wildlife tours to choose from. Taking advantage of a tour guide is definitely your best bet. Not only will you receive fascinating information about the wildlife you get to see with your own eyes, but you’ll be kept safe.

“You should never try to entice wildlife by offering food or imitating it’s call and posing with a wild animal puts you in danger,” warns Discover Banff Tours, “Keep your distance – if you cause an animal to move that means you are too close. Remember: these are wild animals and observing them in a safe way is better for your health as well as theirs!”

Are you a foodie?

You’d be hard pressed to locate a restaurant in Banff that doesn’t present you with unique mouth-watering eats. As Eric informs us, Banff is well-known for its wide selection of eateries. He insists that there is something for every craving you may have.

“There’s cheap ramen as good as something you’d find in Tokyo at Chaya, awesome pizza at Saltlik, and mouth watering burgers at Eddie Burger,” he details, “There’s wild west style Mexican food at Magpie & Stump, authentic Greek food at Balkan (ranked best on UrbanSpoon and belly dancers included), and vibrant vegetarian and vegan cuisine at Nourish.”

Eric also notes that you can taste local delicacies like caribou, bison and duck at places like Maple Leaf Grille and Lounge. Robin of Elite Jetsetter agrees that it’s very easy to pig out during a stay in Banff. Her website provides an extensive list of Banff area restaurants that include Korean, Thai, Japanese, Indian and Greek cuisine.
