The summer is finally here! The glorious warm and sunny season that most Canadians eagerly look forward to got underway this past weekend. For many, summer is synonymous with vacationing. But with the coronavirus pandemic not exactly over yet, many international travel plans have been cancelled.

1. Banff, Alberta.
Banff is a breathtakingly gorgeous mountain town popularized by Banff National Park. The Albertan city is widely considered a must-see location simply because of its beautify scenery. While the Rocky Mountains certainly make for a top tourist attraction, Banff’s lakes (such as Moraine Lake, which is pictured above) are also sights to behold all year round.

The city’s landmarks include the Château Frontenac hotel and the Citadelle of Quebec. The latter is the largest British fortress ever built in North America. It forms the centrepiece of the ramparts surrounding the old city and includes a secondary royal residence.
Quebec City “also boasts a wonderful old town — Old Quebec — where you can walk cobblestone streets past well-preserved 17th- and 18th-century buildings,” informs Touropia, “Old Quebec is the only walled city north of Mexico.”
3. St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador
If the first thing you envision when thinking about the easternmost province of Canada is seafood, you likely don’t need much more convincing to visit! However, it must be said that Newfoundland and Labrador can offer you a whole lot more than just its famous lobsters. As Law points out, the capital city of St. John’s is a friendly city that has a lot of history and wondrous sites.
“Colourful buildings line the sloping streets that run along hills, with views out over the harbour,” she describes, “The city also has numerous historic sites and attractions, including Signal Hill and George Street, but the real appeal is the vibrant atmosphere, the people, and the maritime culture that makes this city so unique from mainland Canada.”
